Lauren Sparks
Mrs. Lauren Sparks is the Culinary Arts instructor at Tishomingo County Career and Technical Center. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Social work from the University of North Alabama. She has taught a total of twenty three years with her experience spanning over the middle and high school settings. She began teaching social studies at the middle school level and then transitioned to high school where she taught Family and Consumer Science classes. This is Mrs. Lauren’s fifth year at the Career and Technical Center where she has continued to see growth in the culinary program each year.
Mrs. Lauren was selected as the TCCTC Teacher of the Year for the 2018-2019 school year. She has a ProStart Certification as well as the ServSafe Manager Certification. Mrs. Lauren was part of the curriculum rewriting team last year, and she is excited to see the changes that the new Culinary Arts curriculum for the 2020-2021 school year brings. Her second year students will be able to take the ServSafe Manager exam at the end of the year, which is a nationally recognized certification. Helping her students prepare for their futures, regardless if it is in the culinary arts field or not, is a primary goal for her. Mrs. Lauren is also one of our Skills USA advisors.
