Ms. Dana Bonds
After earning a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of North Alabama, Dana Bonds worked in banking and retail management for several years before working with the Tishomingo County Families First Resource Center, located on the campus of Tishomingo County High School. While employed there, Dana decided to pursue the alternate route through the Teach MS Institute at the University of Mississippi to become a certified teacher. In 2007, she began teaching Business Computer Technology at TCCTC. Ms. Bonds was able to bring her work-related experience from retail management and banking into the classroom to relate the content for the students better. Over the years, the BCT program was phased out, and an Economics and Marketing program was added. Ultimately, a teacher preparation program to attract and prepare students to the education field was put into place (Teacher Academy), and Dana became the instructor. Dana was named TCCTC 2019-2020 Teacher of the Year. Ms. Bonds credits her Grandmother Harwell, and many of her former teachers at Iuka, with instilling in her a love for learning and the desire to teach and model what an effective teacher should be.
