Associates degree in Air Conditioning with a minor in Electronics from Northwest Shoals Community College Certified Journeyman
Mr. Jack Jones
Mr. Jones has been teaching at the Tishomingo County Career and Technical Center for 15 years. He is teaching the class he attended in 1977 and 1978 only then it was Metal Trades and taught by Chief Clingan.
He joined the Sheet Metal Workers Union-Local 48 as an apprentice in 1985. He attended the apprenticeship school for 4 years learning how to design and fabricate material of all kinds, and 2 years improving my welding ability. During that time, he traveled representing Local 48 as their best first, second and third year apprentice and competed against other apprentices. He placed 4th, 3rd, 2nd respectively. During his fourth, he became a Journeyman and could not compete. For 15 years he has worked construction and traveled much of the country as a union worker. He worked welding GMAW (MIG), GTAW (TIG), SMAW (Stick), and FCAW (Flux Core) during that time, but also spent a great deal of time fabricating projects, and reading blueprints.
He also attended Northwest Shoals Community College and received my degree in Air Conditioning with a minor in Electronics.
Mr. Jones states, "I do my best to instill a sense of pride in my students and their accomplishments. The knowledge and skill I obtained throughout the years is what I offer to each of my students. I don’t expect them to be the best welder, but instead expect them to be the best they can be in whatever field they pursue. I love teaching, and I know from many parents, and even students themselves, I have made a difference in many lives. What more could I ask for. I am honored to be at the Career Tech Center, and grateful that I have been afforded this opportunity. It would be my honor to have your student attend my class, and I will never take that responsibility lightly."
